Summer Catalogue 2022

The Summer Catalogue 2022 is online. Most titles are in Dutch, but on the front page is our English title Art Fallen From Heaven on modern Balinese sculpture. This publication offers a new perspective on the origin of modern Balinese sculpture in the 1930s. After the subjugation of Bali by Dutch colonial rule, the driving force for renewal was the shift of patronage by the ruling monarchs to the tourists and the western art market.

Eddy Wegman in the Curacao Museum

From August 8 to October 5 the Curaçao Museum is presenting a exhibition of photographs by Eddy Wegman, accompanied by a publication with a compilation of photographs. Curacao Museum, Van Leeuwenhoekstraat z/n Mundu Nobo. Opening hours: Tuesday-Friday 8.30-16.30, Saturday 10.00-16.00. Sunday and Monday closed.

Spring Catalogue 2019

The Spring Catalogue 2019 is online. Most titles are in Dutch, but on the frontpage is the bilingual Slavery Heritage Guide the Netherlands, the third publication from the Mapping Slavery project. Furthermore, in co-operation with the Westfries Museum, a book about the collection Colauto, an important collection of Dutch East Indies Paintings and Grid, a catalogue of the work (mostly huge diptychs) of Dutch artist Robert Smit.

Indonesian Splendour

The exhibition Indonesian Splendour. Four centuries of fascination for the flora of Indonesia with 40 photographs of Dennis A-Tjak will be held from October 20 2018 till January 20 2019 in the Westfries Museum (Museum of the Golden Age), Hoorn North Holland
Dennis A-Tjak has clearly developed his own style for photographing old flower varieties. His portraits stand out because of their technical perfection. The hyperrealist photographs exude perfection, drama and elegance. They are surprising, sometimes disconcertingly abstract, but every single one of them is delightful to look at.

Dolf Henkes and Curaçao

More than 30 paintings by Dolf Henkes have been brought to Curaçao from the Netherlands, and are now on view alongside artworks from Curaçaoan collections at three different locations. The Curaçao Museum is mainly showing the cultural scene in the 1950s, The Curaçao Maritime Museum presents a number of harbour scenes and the Instituto Buena Bisa (IBB) is focusing on the human side

June 28 the revised edition will be available from the bi-lingual Gids Slavernijverleden / Slavery Heritage Guide Amsterdam.

This guide tells the story of Amsterdam’s slavery history in over one hundred locations. Never before were so many places in the Netherlands that have direct connections to slavery collected in a (walking) guide.
