Mapping Slavery portrays historical places relating to slavery on the map of the Dutch colonial empire
Mapping Slavery is a public history project that focuses on the Dutch history of slavery and its intersections of the past and the material, asking questions like:
– Who were the people benefiting from slavery in the Dutch metropole and colonies?
– Where did they live and decide about the investments in slavery of the slave trade?
– What traces of slavery/enslavement can we find in the Netherlands, in the streets, in museums, in archives and in intangible heritage?
– What black presence was there in NL/Europe in earlier ages?

The Slavery Heritage Guide is the third publication in co-operation with the Mapping Slavey project.  Previously published: Slavery Heritage Guide Amsterdam and Dutch New York Histories.
